How to check overstay fine in UAE online
- To get started, go to smartservices.icp.gov.ae and look for the Public Services tab.
- On the top of the smart services page, after choosing the public service button, you’ll see the Fines – Pay Fines option. To begin, press the start button.
- After clicking the start button, you’ll be taken to a three-step page to complete. You should write down your visa file number from your resident visa on this page.
- After recording the visa file number, make a note of the department number (101, 201, 301), the year your visa was pasted, the serial number (1,2,3), and a seven-digit sequence number. Fill in your birthdate, enter the captcha code, then hit the search button.
- After you’ve double-checked your information, you’ll be able to view the overstay fine amount under your UAE visa, as well as the number of days you overstayed.
Overstay Fine on Tourist or Visit Visa In the UAE
The UAE no longer uses a tiered overstay tariff. Since 11 February 2026, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) applies a single flat rate:
AED 50 per day, for every visa category, in all seven emirates.
The 10-day grace period that used to apply to tourist and visit visas was removed in the same change, so the fine starts accruing the day after your visa expires.
ICP also charges a service fee of AED 100 when you settle the fine through Smart Services online.
Overstaying a Residence Visa Fine:
Residents of the UAE have a 30-day grace period after their visa expires, which they can use to change their status and apply for a second residence visa or leave the country. During the grace period, there are no penalties.

The old sliding scale (AED 25, then AED 50, then AED 100 depending on how long you overstayed) no longer applies.
You are now charged AED 50 for each day after the 30-day grace period ends, at the same rate as every other visa type.
A service fee of AED 100 applies when paying online through ICP Smart Services.
Paying the fine does not close your file: you still have to either adjust your status or leave the country.

By selecting your relationship with a sponsor from the drop-down box, you can pay your overstay fees online. You’ll be asked to provide your cellphone number for the OTP, provide your bank (card) details, then submit a request after clicking next.
